Ward 21 Davenport
Since 1991, Dennis Fotinos had represented the Toronto Davenport ward as a member of Metro Council. In that capacity, Councillor Fotinos had consistently opposed unwarranted tax increases and introduced a number of new initiatives. As chairman of the Task Force on Ambulance Services, he made recommendations that lead to important efficiencies and improved service to the public. As chairman of the Human Services Committee he introduced plans to combat welfare fraud and announced the Job Incentive Program that put over 2,000 welfare recipients back to work. In addition, it was his recommendations that led to the establishment of the Task Force on Services to Young Children and Families.
Prior to entering politics, Councillor Fotinos worked as an editor of a community newspaper and as a teacher at Emery Collegiate in North York.
