General Customer Service Inquiries can be made by calling 416-397-5330 Monday to Friday from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. 

Inquiries at our Customer Service Counter

Service Hours: Customer service counters are open Monday to Friday from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. 

Note: To be served promptly when visiting a customer service counter, please sign in when you arrive to secure your place in line and for same-day customer service, please arrive and sign in no later than 3:30p.m.

Payments by Phone

To use the Toronto Building Fee Payment Line service, please call (416) 397-5222. Before you make your call, follow the Accepted Methods of Payment (above). Please ensure that you are an authorized cardholder and be prepared to provide an email address along with the application folder number (i.e., 13-123456 ABC 00) for which you are remitting payment. Toronto Building will process the payment for the authorized credit card holder and he/she will receive a receipt by email.

Accepted Methods of Payment & Limits

Building Permit Fees may be paid by cash, cheque, debit card, Visa or MasterCard.

  • Payment by Visa, MasterCard or Amex is limited to a maximum of $20,000.00. Any balance of payment may be paid by cash, cheque, or debit card by visiting one of Toronto Building's customer service counters.
  • Payment by personal or company cheque that is less than $2,000.00 must be certified.
  • Payment of any applicable Parkland Dedication, Development Charges, Educational Development Charges, or Planning Benefits, including other development related fees, must be made in person and paid by certified cheque only. All cheques are to be made payable to: "The Treasurer - City of Toronto."

No permit will be issued until all fees are paid. However, for projects with fees greater than $20,000, a partial permit for excavation and shoring may be issued if the required deposit is made on the building permit fee.


Book an inspection

To Book an Inspection, a request may be submitted online through the Toronto Building Inspection Request system.

TelePermit inspection system

Toronto Building TelePermit gives building permit holders seven day-a-week access to request, cancel, or reschedule an inspection. Inspections are held Monday to Friday during normal business hours.

Using TelePermit, you can:

  • schedule, cancel and re-schedule an inspection
  • review an upcoming inspection
  • listen to inspection results

Appointment scheduling for submission of major projects

You can contact the district Building Consultant to book a reserved time to come and discuss submission requirements or to submit your building application for a Major Project.

Definition of a Major Project:

  • Projects where the construction value equals or exceeds $2M but excluding single family dwellings, semi-detached dwellings and interior alterations.
  • Developments where subdivision agreements are required.
  • Any other project identified by the Plan Review Manager.
