About the awards

These awards recognize businesses and organizations that demonstrate leadership in encouraging cycling by employees and/or customers.

The 2015 awards presentation took place on February 24, 2016 at Steam Whistle Brewery.

The Bicycle Friendly Business Awards would like to thank the event partner, Cycle Toronto.

2015 Award Recipients

The following businesses and organizations were recognized for their bicycle friendliness in 2015:

TD Bank Group

TD Bank Group has supported green initiatives through funding of approximately $70 million dollars over the last 25 years through its Foundation, and sees the value in cycling as a sustainable urban transportation option. Having come on board as the marque sponsor of the Toronto Bike Share System, TD Bank Group has supported the program’s operations.

Financial District BIA

Recognizing the increasing demand for cycling within its district, this organization has integrated bike parking racks, post and rings and Bike Share Toronto stations into its own Public Realm Strategy. In 2015, this involved leading the call for the installation of more bike parking along Bay Street in coordination with the City’s road and streetscape work last summer.

This organization has been an incredibly supportive and collaborative partner throughout the process of planning, installation and continued evaluation of the Richmond - Adelaide Cycle Tracks Pilot Project. We look forward to continuing to work with the Financial District BIA as the installation of the cycle track on Adelaide is completed this Spring, and through the evaluation of the pilot project.
