ExpandHave Your Say Through Councillors, City Council or Petitions

Contact your Councillor

Councillors and the mayor are accessible to the public and want to hear from citizens. You can contact your councillor to: share your opinion; find out what is going on in your community; get help accessing City services; join their mailing list; and invite them to a community event or meeting. If you're not sure who your councillor is click the above link and type in your address under "Search by Address or Place."

Submit Comments or Speak Before City Council

If you want to make your views known about a matter being considered by a committee of Council you can do so in two ways: 1) submit comments in writing by mail, fax or email or 2) request to speak before a committee of City Council to share your comments with committee members directly.

Sign a Petition

Petitions can be submitted to the City Clerk or a member of City Council about an item on the agenda of a committee meeting or City Council meeting. The petition, including all the names of those who have signed it become part of the public record. Scroll to page 27-20 of the procedure by-law for details on submitting a petition.

The City needs residents of Toronto to serve on high profile, challenging and exciting boards of directors for City agencies or corporations. The public are invited to apply to join the Boards that oversee such entities as the Toronto Transit Commission, the Committee of Adjustment, and Build Toronto.
