National Aboriginal Day LogoThe City of Toronto acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit, the Huron-Wendat, the Haudenosaunee and home to many diverse Aboriginal Peoples.

Toronto has the largest Aboriginal population in Ontario and the 4th largest in Canada. Aboriginal Peoples hold a unique legal and constitutional position in Canada. The City of Toronto has affirmed this unique position in its vision statement on Access, Equity and Diversity: "The City recognizes the unique status and cultural diversity of the Aboriginal communities and their right to self-determination."
