The 2011 Ward Profiles and Community Council Area Profiles are available from City Planning through the online Toronto Demographics portal. These workbooks contain the data in these Profiles. These Profiles provide demographic, social and economic information for each Ward in the City of Toronto.
Each Ward Profile and Community Council Area Profile provide a portrait of the population and households in each Ward and Community Council Area. These workbooks contain the data in these Profiles. The 2011 Census Profiles contain information on population by age, households and dwelling types, families, and language groups. The 2011 National Household Survey Profiles contain information on household tenure and period of construction; immigration, mobility, ethnic origin and visible minorities; education and labour force; income and shelter costs.
There have been changes in the way that information has been collected for portions of the 2011 Census. In the past, the national Census included a long-form version that was sent to a random sample of about 20 percent of Canadian households. In 2010, the long-form Census was discontinued by Statistics Canada. Information previously collected by the long-form Census questionnaire was collected in 2011 as part of the new, voluntary National Household Survey. These data are not easily compared, so two separate profiles have been prepared. Please see the Known Limitations below for important information about this data.
For more information, please see the Census Glossary and Notes, and the National Household Survey Glossary at WardProfiles. Information on the availability of Census of Canada and National Household Survey data can be obtained from Statistics Canada, www.statcan.ca, or its toll-free access number 1-800-263-1136.
Data will be reviewed and updated about three years after Census Day 2016, depending on the release of data by Statistics Canada and City requests for custom tabulations.
