The Toronto Botanical Garden (TBG) is a gardening education and information centre located in Toronto’s Edwards Gardens, a City of Toronto public park that features a variety of beautiful former estate gardens.
The TBG is a volunteer-driven charity, focused on horticulture and gardening. It offers 17 award-winning themed gardens on nearly four acres of land. It is host to innovative indoor and outdoor learning experiences for all ages, including programs, garden tours, nature day camps, field trips and an extensive horticultural library. Visitors can also enjoy the TBG garden shop, seasonal café and farmers market.
Those interested in sustainability will appreciate the TBG for its LEED Silver Certified Building, green roof and award-winning ecologically conscious design. The City of Toronto has also 'greened' the site's parking lot using sustainable design, materials and technology to improve storm water management, enhance pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, and reduce the urban heat island effect.
