Former City Councillor Mario GiansanteMario Giansante was first elected in 1994 as Councillor in the former City of Etobicoke. As a former member of the Noise Management Committee of the Lester B. Pearson International Airport (LBPIA), he continued to be a strong advocate for the community. Mario was instrumental in getting Toronto City Council to establish a Task Force to Review Noise Management and Air Pollution Issues at LBPIA.

Mario chaired the Etobicoke Community Council. As vice chair (1998-1999) and member of the Economic Development and Parks Committee and Enterprise Toronto Advisory Committee, Mario was committed to retain business in the city. In 1994, Mario was instrumental in stopping the widening of Eglinton Avenue West, a great victory for area residents. Mario was proud to have brought back Etobicoke Discover Boating Day, a tradition which began in the former City of Etobicoke in 1993, providing a day on the water for seniors and people with disabilities.

As a resident of Etobicoke for almost 20 years, Mario was very active in his community. His community involvement began with little league soccer and an active member of his parish, All Saints Church. He was co-chair of the Share Life Campaign and raised funds for the Salvation Army and the Arthritis and Cancer Societies. As a City Councillor, Mario continued his work for the community as a governor on the board for the Dorothy Ley Hospice.

In 1974, Mario completed his business studies at Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology. Prior to entering politics, Mario owned and directed a very highly successful business - Team Canada Real Estate and Insurance Ltd.
