The Nutritious Food Basket (NFB) is a tool that measures the minimum cost of eating healthy for a person or family in Toronto. Toronto Public Health gathers information from grocery stores across the City each year. This helps to track any changes in the cost of healthy foods from year to year. The tool is not considered a budgeting tool. The figures are averages only. They are best used alongside household incomes and other basic expenses. This helps to show different household situations and their ability to meet basic needs.
Use the calculator below to find out the least amount that it might cost to buy nutritious food for you or your family in Toronto.
Please list all household family members - one member at a time.
* The monthly cost is calculated by multiplying the cost per week by 4.33 (the number of weeks in a month).
