Memorial Hall

North York Memorial Community Hall is located at 5110 Yonge St., just steps away from North York Civic Centre and North York Centre subway station on the Yonge line. 

Business, non-profit groups, private social groups, special interest groups and the general public use our facilities. This superbly equipped rental facility offers you a full array of services for your business meeting, seminar, workshop, conference or social function (wedding receptions, banquets, social gatherings, etc.).

The hall is available for rent, year round, seven days a week. For your convenience, the North York Memorial Community Hall is:

  • air conditioned
  • wheelchair accessible
  • approved for Special Occasion Liquor Permits, and 
  • has an exceptional banquet kitchen.

North York Memorial Community Hall is easy to get to. 

Public transit or walking
Located on the Yonge Subway line, with direct access from the North York City Centre station, in the North York City Centre. It is also steps away from the North York Civic Centre.

Driving
North York Memorial Hall is located four blocks north of Sheppard Avenue on the West Side of Yonge Street. There is plenty of public parking on:  North York Boulevard, Park Home Avenue, and Beecroft Road.

Social events

Your "To Do" list:

  • All groups must arrange for all their own catering, dishes, plus decorations and linens.
  • Groups must include within the time booked for their own set-up and clean-up time.
  • We will set the room up according to the floor plan supplied to us, however, groups will have to decorate the hall.

  • $500.00 Damage Deposit (refundable after event)
  • Liability Insurance: $97.20 - $144.20 (based on attendance & events with/without alcohol)
  • Events serving alcohol must obtain a Special Occasions Permit through the Liquor License Board of Ontario (any liquor store will have applications)
  • Events serving alcohol must have a certified bartender with either a S.I.P. or SMARTSERVE Certificate
  • Burgundy Room "A & B" must be booked together for Social Events.  Cannot be booked separately

Contract payments:

  1. All Contract fees must be paid in full two (2) weeks prior to event date.
    Social function contracts require payment in full for the room rental as a non-refundable deposit, two (2) weeks from receipt of Contract. The payment for the Single Event Liability Insurance is due two (2) weeks before the event date. Failure to comply with this payment schedule may result in the cancellation of your event.
  2. Contract Holders with outstanding payments will not receive further contracts until all outstanding fees are paid in full.
  3. Contract fees shall be made payable to "The City of Toronto".
  4. The Contract Holder is responsible for all damages to the facility or furnishings caused by the Contract group.

Contract cancellation:

  1. The applicant understands and agrees that the Contract may be revoked or cancelled at any time with or without cause and that in the event of such revocation or cancellation, there would be no claim or right to damages, or reimbursement on account of any loss, damage, or expense whatsoever. It is further understood that the date of Contract may be changed by the Department should the facility be required for other purposes. Advance payment fees will be refunded if this should occur.
  2. Social Function: Cancellation of the Contract by the applicant requires at least three (3) months written notice in advance of the date(s) concerned for a full refund. If written cancellation is received with less than three (3) months notice but more than two (2) weeks prior to the event date, the applicant will be charged fifty percent (50%) of the room rental fee. If less than two (2) weeks written notice is received, the applicant shall bear the full charge of the room rental fee for the day(s) concerned.
    Corporate/Business: Cancellation of the Contract by the applicant requires two (2) weeks written notice for a full refund. If less than two (2) weeks written notice is received, the applicant will be charged fifty percent (50%) of the room rental fee for the day(s) concerned.

Contract holder's responsibilities:

  1. The Contract may only be used for the purposes indicated and for the time specified. This includes your set-up and clean-up time. Access to the room other than as indicated on the Contract is subject to additional charges.
  2. Contracts are only for use by the name indicated on the Contract and are not transferable.
  3. The Contract Holder agrees to fully indemnify the City of Toronto for all liability which the City may incur in any manner arising out of the Contract Holder's use of facilities under any Contract.
  4. The Contract Holder is responsible for personal injury to those in attendance or damage to the Contract facilities, furnishings or equipment.
  5. The Contract Holder is responsible for the loss or theft of any items of the Contract Holder, organization or those in attendance.
  6. The Contract Holder must obtain a lottery permit from the Municipality to operate games of chance, lottery or gambling in any form.
  7. If alcohol is being sold/served at your event, the Contract Holder is responsible for obtaining a Special Occasions Permit issued by the Liquor Licence Board of Ontario. All servers must be certified through S.I.P. or SMARTSERVE. Contract Holders with Special Occasions Permits are also required to purchase our liability insurance in the value of $2,000,000.00 (two million dollars) for $129.60. Contract Holders are required to follow all regulations as described in the Municipal Alcohol Policy of the Former City of North York, Resolution 94-14, passed July 16th, 1994.
