Commercial Activities in Parks

If you are an individual, group, or organization and you would like to charge fees to clients to conduct organized recreation activities or services on city owned and/or managed parkland, you will need to apply for a permit. Permits are issued according to the Commercial Recreation Activities in Parks policy.

Permit Season:

April 30th to October 30th; 6:00am to 9:00pm

Permit Start Date:

Can be issued between April and October

Rates:

The permit rate applied is for an outdoor event up to 20 people

Q: Are there any areas within a park that are off-limits to commercial activities?

A: Most open or green spaces in parks will be available for programming. For safety reasons and to preserve sensitive areas in parks, the following areas are not available for commercial recreation permits:

  • Pedestrian pathways, boardwalks and linkages
  • Natural or environmentally sensitive areas including: designated ravines, wooded or savannah areas, sites of natural and/or scientific interest, areas which have undergone significant habitat restoration, wetlands or their buffer zones
