It's time to plan for an expanded Grand Avenue Park!

The area around Grand Avenue Park has experienced significant high-rise condominium development and population growth over the past decade, with more residential development in the planning stages. With such growth, community needs develop and change, and reinvestment in the parks and open spaces is required. The City of Toronto is about to start the process for a new design and implementation plan for Grand Avenue Park.

The New Park

The existing Grand Avenue Park is a 1.0-hectare parcel of greenspace located in Ward 6, more specifically on the east side of Grand Avenue, north of the Metrolinx Lakeshore Rail corridor. The City has acquired additional lands adjacent to Grand Avenue Park, between Grand Avenue, Manitoba Street, Legion Road, and the Metrolinx Lakeshore Rail Corridor, to assemble a new Grand Avenue Park Site of approximately 5.0 hectares (12 acres) in area. The working title for the design of the new park is Grand Manitoba Park.

The New Park – Grand Manitoba Park

The site has great potential for neighbourhood, community, and destination based park and recreation opportunities. The new park design will be created in consultation with the local community and general public, and is an ideal opportunity to provide a creative vision for a major park. The new park design will assess and integrate city and community recreation and leisure needs, address community based issues, and will reflect sustainable and environmentally sound landscape design and management.

Public Engagement and Consultation

Local residents, local recreation clubs and park user groups will be consulted and consultation sessions will be run in a variety of locations and formats including online and in the park. The public will have the opportunity to review and provide comment as the New Grand Manitoba Park Design evolves.

We want to hear from you!

An online survey was conducted until May 13, 2016 for the purposes of gathering information and input from local residents and other potential users.

Your feedback is valuable to us and will be reviewed and considered as part of the decision-making process during the design phase.
