In November 2013, City Planning worked with a variety of stakeholders, including The Toronto District School Board, the Toronto Catholic District School Board and Metrolinx, to organize the Toronto Student Active Transportation Summit. The objective of the summit was to re-imagine the role of student active transportation as a key component of community-building. Students, parents, educators and community partners came together to brainstorm obstacles to, and solutions for, the successful implementation of student active transportation in Toronto's communities. The Summit was the latest initiative in a series of efforts undertaken in recent years to promote student active transportation.
