Why are we doing this study?
In October 2013, City Council confirmed support for an extension of the Bloor-Danforth Subway. The Municipal, Provincial and Federal Governments have each committed funding to make the extension a reality.

The Scarborough Subway Extension will improve the level of transit service in this part of the city, provide opportunities for the enhanced integration of transit and land use, as well as encourage transit-oriented development adjacent to station sites and along the rapid transit corridor.

Planning and preliminary engineering work will examine options and recommend an alignment for the subway.

This process will be followed by a formal Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) to satisfy the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act.

Once the TPAP is completed, the TTC will lead the detailed engineering design and construction phases of the project.

Public Consultation Opportunities

The City of Toronto, TTC and Metrolinx are working closely together on coordinated transit planning in Toronto. Six major transit studies are interrelated:

Network analysis by Metrolinx

GO Regional Express Rail (RER)
Yonge Relief Network Study

Network analysis by the City of Toronto and TTC

SmartTrack
SmartTrack Eglinton Corridor Feasibility Study
Scarborough Subway Extension
Relief Line

These projects have a significant impact on the overall transit network: They will improve the network by creating connections between future projects and existing lines, and represent a coordination or regional and local priorities.

Please join us at a public meeting to learn more about network transit planning and the projects that will transform the way you move around Toronto and beyond. The same information will be available at all meetings.
