NEW APPLICATION INTAKE PROCEDURE
As of January 16, 2017 Committee of Adjustment customers' can make their applications at any Toronto Building Customer Service Counter in any District regardless of the property location.
Only complete applications (DVD) will be accepted. Please use the Application Checklist prior to attending our service counter to ensure that you are not turned away.
VARIANCES TO SITE-SPECIFIC ZONING BY-LAWS
As of July 1, 2016, changes to the Planning Act prohibit an applicant from making an application for a minor variance if a site specific zoning by-law has been passed within the last two years. (See main page for more information.)
FOR APPLICANTS - IMPORTANT
Revisions to your application will not be accepted after the Notice of Public hearing has been issued and will likely result in your application being deferred.
Revisions submitted prior to a notice being issued may result in further public hearing scheduling delays.
You are encouraged to consult with your neighours and city staff prior to filing your application and/or prior to the Notice of Public hearing being issued. Doing so improves our ability to schedule applications in a timely manner.
FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS - IMPORTANT
Filing Deadline for submissions – 3:00 p.m. every Thursday before the scheduled public hearing.
Definition of Submission: evidence in support or opposition; letter/petitions in support,/opposition; presentation materials that you wish to rely upon at the Public Hearing; photographs; staff reports and letters from commenting partners, etc.
How to file your submissions: To ensure your information is received in a timely manner please EMAIL it to the assigned Case Manager in .pdf format

The Committee of Adjustment office will be closed on Friday May 5 for divisional training. Applications can still be submitted with Toronto Building Customer Service via email or in person.
