The Community Disability Steering Committee is an advisory group that works closely with the office of the Advocate for People with Disabilities of the Parks, Forestry and Recreation division. Membership of the CDSC consists of persons who are living with disabilities and persons who work with various organizations that advocate for people with disabilities.
The role of this city-wide committee is primarily to:
- support the Parks, Forestry and Recreation division in its goal to increase access and reduce barriers as identified in the division’s Accessibility Plan (Ontarians with Disabilities Act O.D.A. legislation)
- provide support, advocacy, information, networking and education to the division or other related groups with a diverse understanding on the needs and concerns of people with disabilities.
