Tennis Courts Facilities
This dataset includes data on tennis court locations that belong to the City of Toronto. Every tennis court location is considered an asset. In most cases the name of the asset coincides with the name of the park where the courts are located. A tennis court location normally includes multiple tennis court areas: usually 1-3. Certain number of courts (2-3) located in immediate proximity to each other define a tennis court area.
Some locations are public, others are 'clubs' (these sites are operated by not-for-profit Community Tennis Clubs and require a membership with some access available for non-members during public access hours) - refer to the 'Primary Permitting Status' column. Tennis courts may be lit or not; surface material used in courts varies as well (refer to "Surface Material" column). Every court and clubhouse are identified by (X, Y) GIS coordinate.
Thus, tennis information you'll find in this dataset is the following:
- Tennis Court Area
- Primary Permitting Status (Club or Public)
- Lit or not
- Surface material
- GIS coordinate
The source of the data is the City of Toronto Parks, Forestry & Recreation Asset Management System. Dataset has gone through necessary inter-divisional validation and on-site validation with parks supervisors.
