At its September 30, 2015 meeting, City Council requested a framework to equitably regulate all ground transportation providers, including taxis, limos and vehicle-for-hire services. Staff will present their findings at the Licensing and Standards Committee on April 14, 2016.

This committee is composed of various industry stakeholders and provides advice to the City on consumer protection, the health and safety of passengers and drivers, the well-being of the City and other industry issues.
The City of Toronto is conducting the Taxicab Industry Review. Its purpose is to determine a comprehensive list of industry issues and explore how to best resolve them.
In order to obtain a taxicab driver's licence, applicants must successfully complete intensive training. Taxicab licensees also take refresher training every four years to receive updates, such as on changes to legislation.
