Family Day in the City

To help celebrate Family Day, the City of Toronto has planned a number of outdoor and indoor activities that are fun for the whole family at various city-owned facilities across Toronto!

Grab the kids, your winter gear, skates (or bathing suit) and join us!

Things to do:

Skating Party at Nathan Phillips Square

100 Queen St. West

Special Family Day Skating Party Hours: 1 – 4 p.m.

  • Skating Party with DJ Fase and host Scott White
  • RBC interactive games and Leo the Lion
  • Canadian Tire hockey fun
  • Tim Hortons coffee and hot chocolate truck 
  • Roots Canada airstream trailer and Buddy the Beaver

Regular Hours:
The rink at Nathan Phillips Square is open daily 9 a.m. – 10 p.m., including Family Day. Skate rentals are available on site.

Outdoor Skating

Skating on outdoor ice rinkThere are 50 outdoor rinks or skating trails to choose from! Please visit the Outdoor Rink page for locations, amenities and schedules. The operation of outdoor rinks is weather-permitting.

Skating Trails can be found at Colonel Sam Smith Park, Greenwood Park, Dieppe Park and Rennie Park.

Warm up and enjoy the sights and smells at Toronto's beautiful conservatories.

Allan Gardens Conservatory, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Free admission and wheelchair accessible.



Skiing and Snowboarding hills are open for regular business

People skiingYou can ski and snowboard in the city! Parks, Forestry and Recreation operates slopes at Centennial Park and Earl Bales Park, weather permitting.

Tow/lift passes start at $11.00 depending on age, length of time and lift type. There are no classes on Family Day. Family Day 1-hour registered private ski and snowboard lessons are running as scheduled.
