Mel Lastman Square is available to Toronto’s diverse communities to showcase some of the best this city has to offer. The Square is a beautiful park featuring 20,000 square feet of open space, a garden court, an outdoor amphitheatre, fountains, and reflecting pool. Special events that showcase music, art, dancing, theatre, food, and sports are planned by our city’s various cultural groups for every season.

This is the perfect venue for your local community event. The Square has various levels and areas that are suitable for an assortment of activities, such as cultural festivals, concerts, fundraisers, awareness campaigns, children’s activities, art displays, and more. The outdoor amphitheatre can accommodate more than 600 people who can be seated in permanent, raised, concrete bleachers and up to 3,000 spectators in total. Mel Lastman Square has the facilities and staff to meet your community’s needs.

Mel Lastman Square is conveniently located at 5100 Yonge Street by the North York Civic Centre, and just steps away from a variety of shops, restaurants and public transportation.

Free Fitness Classes

Summertime with Resa's Pieces

Conducted by Toronto musician, Resa Kochberg, this lively community band of over fifty members performs concerts of recognizable tunes that are sure to engage the audience in an evening of fun. From rock and roll to classical music, jazz standards to marches, audiences will be clapping, cheering and singing along with this energetic band. The energy is contagious!

The African Experience Festival

Health and Culture Expo

The Health and Culture Expo highlights a variety of performances on the amphitheatre stage which include music, cultural dance performances, a high school acrobatic team, marching drum core skills demonstrations, and exercise sessions for the audience to participate.  Health age assessments, juicing demonstrations, blood pressure checks, health-related literature and ethnic food sales and samples reflective of the diversity within our community.  Jumping (bouncing) castles, balloon animals, face painting will provide entertainment for children.  Information about community services and wellness programs offered by area Adventist are also available.
