Year-End Update | December 2016

Thank you for your interest and participation

Thanks to the many people and organizations that have raised awareness, shared information, and participated in consultation activities for the Facilities Master Plan (FMP) over the past year. Your contributions are essential in developing a plan that will support continued access to high quality parks and recreation facilities across the city and into the future.

Consultation summaries from the first phase of public consultation are posted on the project website. The second consultation phase was completed in early December 2016 and summaries will be posted as they become available.

Facilities Master Plan is on track to be completed in June 2017

The plan will be guided by four principles - equity, quality, innovation, and sustainability - and based on three broad directions:

  1. Renew and upgrade existing facilities,
  2. Address gaps and growth-related needs, and
  3. Work with others and explore new opportunities.

We are currently working on assessing facility needs and identifying gaps, developing a financial strategy, and analysing the information gathered through consultation. We will continue to provide updates as this work progresses.

Happy Holidays
