Business Growth Services are designed to help Toronto businesses reach their full potential. Staff help businesses meet everyday challenges and maximize opportunities through a variety of programs.

Business Retention and Expansion

EDC supports local medium- and large-sized businesses grow and create jobs through various programs and services including:

Sector Development

Staff advocate and consult with industry to promote the growth of businesses in specific sectors including:

Entrepreneurship Services

Enterprise Toronto links entrepreneurs with the tools they need to grow and develop their small business. Staff offer:

  • one-to-one business plan consultations
  • assistance with business name registrations
  • advice on government regulations including permits and licensing
  • free business forums, weekly seminars and unique training opportunities
  • an online directory of incubators, co-working spaces, accelerators, and service organizations that help new entrepreneurs.

Business Improvement Areas

To help local commercial areas create thriving, competitive and safe business areas, the Economic Development & Culture Division offers a number of assistance programs to Business Improvement Areas (BIA). Staff support the economic health of close to 80 BIAs in Toronto by:

  • providing hands-on advice and support to community groups looking to start or expand a BIA
  • administering financial incentive programs
  • providing 50-50 cost sharing for large-scale beautification projects within BIAs
