You can now search, book a permit and pay for last minute facility bookings online

Please note: You can now book last-minute—as far in advance as 14 days and as late as 3 days prior to your event date.

  • Last minute bookings may receive a discounted rate.
  • This type of booking is non-refundable.
  • Bookings cannot be resold, exchanged or sublet.
  • Prior to booking Last Minute facilities online, a client MUST review and agree to the rules and regulations. Note there are specific rules for each type of facility.
  • Initially, affiliated organizations requesting extra time will need to speak with a Customer Service representative (to provide proof of insurance coverage for coaches in advance of booking and to receive the login account identification numbers).
  • Non-affiliated groups (private individuals and groups) will require insurance. Fees will automatically include a minimum $2 million liability insurance coverage.
  • For profit organizations will not be permitted through our online booking system.

Ice Rental Online Booking Rules

  • Last Minute Ice is booked in one hour increments. All one hour increments include 50 minutes of permit time and 10 minutes for the maintenance of the ice.
  • Last minute online ice bookings cannot be used to replace regular seasonal bookings.
  • Non-Affiliated groups (private individuals and groups) will require insurance. Fees will automatically include a minimum $2 million liability insurance coverage.
  • Initially, Affiliated Organization's will need to speak with a Customer Service representative to provide proof of insurance coverage and additional details in advance of booking.
  • Dressing rooms can be accessed up to 30 minutes before and must be vacated no later than 30 minutes following your permitted time.
  • Minors (under 18) must be accompanied by an adult supervisor at all times.
  • No one is allowed on the ice surface during operation of the ice surfacing machine.
  • Toronto Parks, Forestry & Recreation highly recommends the use of CSA approved helmets for all players/skaters while on the ice. For bookings by private individuals or companies such as birthday parties and special events, all participants regardless of age, while playing or supervising hockey in an arena or rink are required to wear CSA approved hockey helmets while on the ice. For organizations, school boards, and private rentals, all players, students and children are required to be under supervision at all times
  • The City of Toronto reserves the right to cancel Last Minute Sport Facility bookings when it is considered to be used for profit or gain or is being abused to replace or in the place of regular ice bookings.
  • The City of Toronto has a Zero Tolerance Alcohol Policy. Any unauthorized use will result in the immediate cancellation of this permit.

**Scarborough Arenas require clients to bring their own locks.

Sport Facilities Online Booking Rules

  • Sport Facilities are booked in two hour (minimum) increments.
  • Last minute online sport field bookings cannot be used to replace regular seasonal bookings.
  • Non-Affiliated groups (private individuals and groups) will require insurance. Fees will automatically include a minimum $2 million liability insurance coverage.
  • Initially, Affiliated Organization's will need to speak with a Customer Service representative to provide proof of insurance coverage and additional details in advance of booking.

General Rules and Regulations

ExpandWhat does the City of Toronto consider last minute?

Last minute online booking is considered between 3-14 days prior to the event date.

  • Last minute availability will only be displayed up to 2 weeks prior to the event date and will not allow less than 3 days booking notice.
  • Last Minute Ice is booked in one hour increments. Sport Facilities are booked in two hour (minimum) increments.

ExpandWhat is required of the permit holder?

  • The permit holder MUST bring a copy of the rental confirmation and present it to City of Toronto staff prior to use of the City facility. Failing to do so, may result in the contract holder's permit being revoked at the permit holder's expense.
  • Permit holder is responsible to ensure alcohol is not brought on City of Toronto property. In the event alcohol is found on site, staff will have authorization to cancel the permit without refund.
  • The permit must read all rules, conditions of use and regulations prior to permitting online.

ExpandWhat will the City of Toronto not allow during online booking permits?

  • The City of Toronto has a zero tolerance alcohol policy. Any permit group found consuming alcohol on City of Toronto property will have their permit revoked.
  • The permit is not transferable to any other user.
  • There is no subletting.
  • Groups cannot use online booking to replace seasonal permits.
  • Groups and or individuals cannot use online booking for profit or gain.

Please note: staff are not able to book permits online for groups and or individuals at the discounted rates.

ExpandWho Can Rent Last Minute Ice and Sport Facilities online?

Anyone is eligible providing it is not for personal and or private gain.

Examples of acceptable online permitting: coach requiring last minute sport field and or ice time, private birthday party, adults getting together last minute to play baseball or non-contact hockey.

Examples of unacceptable online permitting: regular seasonal permits, for-profit organizations, for-profit ice clinic, tournaments or special events.

Note: Some activities will not be allowed at specific locations.

Definitions of Guest Sign in: Family or Private Accounts:

If you are booking a facility for a family event or private activity, you will be required to accept the mandatory general liability coverage which is ($2,000,000.00) liability insurance provided through the City of Toronto. Individuals will be required to Sign in as a Guest, or Contact Customer Service Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at Permit Offices for further information.

IMPORTANT: Coaches requiring extra ice will not be included under this definition.

Ice Rinks

If you are booking a rink on behalf of your organization/team you must permit under your organization account. Prior to permitting online the organization must have provided proof of insurance. (Third party liability insurance naming the City of Toronto as additionally insured, minimum of $2 million liability insurance.) Note: Coaches requesting extra ice online must receive prior approval from their organization to permit.

*The City of Toronto's User liability insurance program does not cover Hockey organizations and or hockey activities.

Sport Facilities

If you are booking an outdoor sport field as part of a youth or adult sport organization account, you are required to provide proof that your group has a seasonal policy of general liability with a minimum limit of Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00) insurance prior to the start of the season. When the insurance requirement is met for your organization, you will be able to book online Last Minute with no additional insurance required.
