The City will organize and host formal public meeting(s) and conduct polls to determine if there is sufficient interest in establishing a new BIA. The results of all of the polls can be found on the City Clerk's Office website.
On November 26, 2015, the membership of The Waterfront BIA approved a motion to expand the boundaries of the BIA.
The Waterfront BIA and expansion steering committee have carried out the public consultation process for expanding a BIA as required by Chapter 19 of the City of Toronto Municipal Code. A public consultation meeting was held on January 26, 2016, at which a secret ballot vote was conducted to determine whether to proceed with a formal poll, conducted by the City Clerk, to determine support for the proposed BIA expansion (link to map). The results of the secret vote support proceeding to the formal poll. The staff report recommending that the poll be undertaken will proceed to the Economic Development Committee on February 26, 2016.
