A large facility located on Queen Street in Jimmie Simpson Park. Jimmie Simpson Recreation Centre is a hub for recreation programming with a variety of opportunities for everyone from preschool to older adults. It offers a wide-range of activities including swimming, fitness, youth, sports, after school and preschool programs.

Jimmie Simpson Artificial Ice rink is located in Jimmie Simpson Park. The ice rink features a hockey pad which doubles as a pleasure pad. There are change rooms for changing into skates nearby. There are also tennis courts and a soccer field in the park.

This location is a community centre where programs are free.

Cardio - AdultThese classes are suitable for all levels, focusing on providing a minimum of 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercises that use large muscle groups in a continuous and rhythmic manner. Most classes will also include a muscle conditioning component. Regular participation can help improve one's cardiovascular system (heart/lungs), flexibility, balance and co-ordination. Small equipment may be used.

Coach Training - Fundamental Movement SkillsAn NCCP workshop for anyone working or interested in working with young children. The Fundamental Movement Skills of throwing, catching, jumping, striking, running, kicking, agility, balance and coordination, form the basis for future sport skill development and for the life-long enjoyment of physical activity. In this workshop, coaches learn how to observe and improve the fundamental movement skills. The course outcomes include analyzing and identifying the various stages of development for each skill, applying a six-step process to teaching each skill, and creating safe games where children can practice the skills. This program is run in partnership with the Coaches Association of Ontario.

AL: Bronze Cross (BC) / SFAThis course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including the introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures, teamwork and use of special equipment. Candidates must be able to swim 600 m in 18 minutes. Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid with CPR-C are pre-requisites for lifeguard training in the National Lifeguard Service (NLS) program and Lifesaving Society Instructors certifications. Pre-requisite: Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid (CPR-B). If you withdraw from a program 10 days or less from the course start date, a 50% refund is provided. AL: Bronze Medallion (BM) /Emergency First Aid (EFA)Teaches lifesavers of all ages how to respond in complex water rescue situations. Bronze Medallion develops physical fitness, decision-making and judgement skills in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Lifesavers demonstrate stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for all advanced lifesaving awards. Candidates must be able to complete a 500m swim in 15 minutes or less. The Emergency First Aid component teaches general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: victim assessment, CPR, choking, respiratory and circulatory emergencies such as heart attack and stroke, and how to deal with external bleeding. The CPR-B component teaches the appropriate CPR and choking procedures for children and infants. Successful candidates receive both Emergency First Aid with CPR-B certifications. Emergency First Aid is recognized by the WSIB. Prerequisites: Bronze Star or minimum age 13 years. If you withdraw from a program 10 days or less from the course start date, a 50% refund is provided.
