Regent Park Aquatic Centre (RPAC) is the newest development in the Toronto/East York District. This stand alone aquatic facility is located in the heart of Regent Park and features a 25 meter lap pool, leisure pool, spa pool, tarzan rope, diving board and water slide. Our universal change rooms allow for full accessibility for all patrons. Our programs accommodate participants from preschoolers to older adults. This centre is easily accessible by transit, bike and on foot.

This location is a community centre where programs are free.

Adult Swim: Swim FitThe philisophy of this course is to promote and encourage fitness through the sport of swimming; to improve the swimming level of participants through stroke improvement and competitive swimming events; and to promote fun and friendship through informal social activities. Due to the nature of practices, it is required that adults (20 years+) are able to swim eight lengths of the pool continuously. Four lengths of the eight must be completed in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

AL: Standard First Aid (SFA)The 16-hour Standard First Aid course provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. This course is for those who want an in-depth understanding of first aid such as: medical/legal aspects, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and medical emergencies. Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid is recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and the Ontario Health Regulation and is one of the prerequisites to NLS. Prerequisites: None. If you withdraw from a program 10 days or less from the course start date, a 50% refund is provided. No refunds are given for classes or programs that you miss. 100% attendance and active participation are mandatory!

Bronze CrossPrerequisite: Bronze Medallion, Emergency First Aid (CPR-B). This course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures, teamwork, and use of special equipment. Candidates must be able to complete a 600m swim in 18 minutes or less. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for lifeguard training in the National Lifeguard Service (NLS) program and Lifesaving Society Instructors.

Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid (CPR B)Prerequisites: Bronze Star or minimum 13 years of age. Teaches young and adult lifesavers alike how to respond in complex water rescue situations. Bronze Medallion develops physical fitness, decision making and judgement skills in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Lifesavers must demonstrate stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Candidates must be able to complete a 500 m swim in 15 minutes or less by the course exam date. Emergency First Aid with CPR-B teaches general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: victim assessment, rescue breathing, adult and child CPR and obstructed airway response, identification and treatment of respiratory and circulatory emergencies. Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid (CPR-B) are prerequisites for all future lifesaving awards.

Ultra Youth Swim 1Learning to swim can be intimidating when you are older and just starting out. This program is designed to meet the needs of youth (9-16 years) that have little to no swim training. Instead of trying to fit into the traditional Learn to Swim Levels with children half their age, youth can learn to swim in a group lesson with their peers. This is an introductory level teaching the basics of getting wet, basic floating positions, and introduction to front and back swims. We are committed to creating a comfortable swim environment for people learning to swim at any age. Knowing how to swim can save your life! Get in the swim!

Ultra Youth Swim 2Upon successfully completing Ultra Youth Swim 1, enrolment in Ultra Youth Swim 2 is recommended. This program will build on the skills learned in the first level facilitating the development of front crawl, back crawl elementary backstroke, and surface support. New skills such as breaststroke, surface dives and stride entries will also be introduced.
